SIMPLE. SECURE. LOCAL.

Our Deer Lake
story.

PJ's RV Storage grew from generations spent at Deer Lake and a need Kevin and Carol Schroeder kept hearing from friends and family: a convenient place nearby for boats, RVs, and trailers.

GENERATIONS AT DEER LAKE

A place the family keeps coming back to

Kevin and Carol Schroeder live at Deer Lake, where both sides of their family have spent summers and winters for generations. Their connection to the lake began long before the storage business.

They remember a Deer Lake with roughly half as many cabins and have watched lake life evolve as wakeboard boats and personal watercraft became familiar parts of summer. Their own children grew up here, too—buying candy at the old Haney's Resort, attending pancake feeds at the local firehouse, and spending their summers and winters around the lake.

Those children are grown now, with families of their own who still come to Deer Lake. It remains a multigenerational part of the Schroeder family's life.

A CHANGING LAKE. A SIMPLE NEED.

A practical idea close to the lake

As Deer Lake grew in popularity, there were more boats, trailers, RVs, and recreational equipment around it. Kevin and Carol repeatedly heard the same practical concern from friends, family, neighbors, and other lake users: where could they keep those things without hauling them a long distance?

A convenient storage facility near the lake was a straightforward answer. That local need became PJ's RV Storage.

PJ, the barn cat who inspired the name PJ's RV Storage
PJ—the original steward of the property and the namesake behind PJ's RV Storage.

WHY “PJ'S”?

The barn cat who came with the property

When Kevin and Carol bought the property, they got a little more than land and barns. They also inherited PJ, a gray-and-white barn cat who had already made the place her home.

It did not take long for PJ and the Schroeders to adopt each other. For years she was a fixture around the property—roaming the grounds, patrolling the barns, and chasing mice. In her own quiet way, she looked after the place.

After PJ passed away, her name stayed with the property. When Kevin and Carol opened the storage facility, naming it PJ's felt right: a small tribute to the original steward of the place.
